Outstanding academic achievement took centre stage in Accra as the British Council in Ghana recognised exceptional students and schools for their performance in the 2026 Cambridge International Examinations.
The awards celebrated excellence in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-Level programmes, highlighting the dedication of learners, teachers, school leaders and parents in achieving outstanding results.
Speaking at the 2026 Partner Schools Awards ceremony, the Country Director of the British Council Ghana, Mr Nii Doodo Dodoo, said the event was not only about rewarding academic success but also recognising resilience, commitment and ambition among Ghanaian learners.
He noted that the achievements reflected the immense potential of students in Ghana and underscored the importance of quality education in preparing young people for opportunities in an increasingly globalised world.
Mr Dodoo explained that the Partner Schools Awards formed part of the British Council’s efforts to strengthen teaching, learning and assessment standards while expanding access to internationally recognised qualifications across the country.
Students received honours including the Best in Subject Awards, Star Performer Awards and the Overall Best Student Award for their outstanding performances in various Cambridge International examinations.
Schools were equally recognised for their academic excellence, with awards presented for the Overall Best IGCSE School and Overall Best A-Level School.
As part of efforts to further encourage academic excellence, the British Council, in collaboration with Academic City University College, announced a Presidential Scholarship Package for the Overall Best A-Level School.
Under the initiative, the winning school will nominate its best current A-Level student to receive a fully funded scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, medical care, travel expenses and living stipends.
The ceremony also celebrated Delhi Private School International Ghana for emerging as both the national and regional winner of the 2026 Your World Competition, which was organised under the theme, “Smarter Choices, Stronger Futures.”
The school was recognised for demonstrating excellence in critical thinking, creativity and its engagement with global issues.
