The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has projected a rise in fuel prices starting July 1, 2025, signaling the first upward adjustment at retail pumps since February this year.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, COMAC’s Chief Executive, Dr. Riverson Oppong, revealed that petrol prices are expected to increase by approximately 2 percent, diesel by as much as 5 percent, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by just over 1 percent. These adjustments come despite the suspension of the amended Energy Sector Levy, highlighting underlying cost pressures within the petroleum supply chain.
Dr. Oppong explained that the projections take into account various factors, including recent pricing changes by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), which continue to influence downstream fuel costs.
The chamber called for urgent regulatory reforms in the petroleum sector to enhance cost efficiency and prevent frequent price volatility, emphasizing the need for a sustainable framework to protect consumers and stabilize the market.
This anticipated price increase could impact transportation costs and household budgets, prompting stakeholders to closely monitor developments in the coming pricing window.
