In a momentous gesture that brought joy and renewed energy to Hulafau Basic School in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region, UK-affiliated non-governmental organisation Futurestars Charity has donated a full set of sports jerseys and tracksuits to the school — a first in its history.
The donation, made possible through Futurestars’ enduring partnership with English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion FC and other UK-based partners, marks a significant milestone in the school’s sporting journey.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Ganiwu Alhassan, who represented Futurestars Charity, said the organisation is committed to using sports and education as tools for empowerment.
“At Futurestars Charity, we believe in the power of sport and education to change lives. This donation is another step in our mission to create opportunities, build confidence, and develop young leaders across Ghana and beyond,” he said.
The staff and pupils of Hulafau Basic School received the items with great excitement and gratitude. The school’s headteacher, Mr. Ibrahim Osuman, thanked the charity and offered prayers for its continued growth and reach.
“This initiative is very much needed in our community, and we’re extremely grateful,” he said.
Assistant headteacher Mr. Andrews Atta described the gesture as “a rare act of kindness” that has deeply inspired both staff and students.
“This is the first time our school has received such support. It’s a morale booster and a major motivation that will enhance participation in school sports and foster excellence among our pupils,” he noted.
The donation is expected to boost physical education at the school, encourage greater student engagement in sports, and contribute to the holistic development of learners — aligning with Futurestars’ broader vision of nurturing confident, capable future leaders.
