The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a two-day mid-term break for all basic schools nationwide, offering pupils and teachers a brief respite following the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
According to a statement issued on Friday, February 27, the break will run from Monday, March 9, to Tuesday, March 10, immediately after the March 6 festivities, which traditionally require active participation from schools across the country.
The decision is aimed at allowing both learners and educators time to rest and recover after the nationwide events before academic work resumes. Classes are expected to continue on Wednesday, March 11.
GES urged school authorities, parents, and guardians to take note of the schedule and ensure that students return to school promptly to prevent any disruption to teaching and learning.
The break forms part of the academic calendar and is intended to support effective teaching by balancing school activities with adequate rest periods.
