The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to organise a mid-season refresher workshop for medical personnel working within the country’s football system as part of efforts to strengthen player health management.
The workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2026, will be organised by the GFA’s Medical Committee under the theme “Tackling Mid-Season Overuse Injuries.”
The programme is expected to bring together medical representatives from clubs in the Ghana Premier League, the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League and the Access Bank Division One League. Medical personnel from clubs under the various Regional Football Associations will also participate.
The training session aims to equip club medical teams with updated knowledge and practical approaches for managing injuries that arise from repeated physical strain during the football season.
Participants will examine common overuse injuries that occur during periods of intense competition and discuss factors that increase players’ vulnerability during demanding match schedules.
The workshop will also cover treatment methods, rehabilitation strategies and preventive measures designed to reduce recovery time and safeguard the long-term health of players.
A key feature of the programme will be clinical case discussions, where medical practitioners will analyse real-life scenarios and share professional experiences to improve injury diagnosis, treatment decisions and recovery planning at the club level.
Organisers say the workshop will also promote collaboration, continuous professional development and knowledge sharing among medical practitioners responsible for the care of footballers across the country.
