President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s resolve to deepen economic cooperation with the Czech Republic, highlighting partnership as a cornerstone for shared growth and sustainable development.
Speaking at the Czech-Ghana Business Cooperation Seminar held at the Mövenpick Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, April 8, President Mahama emphasized the value of collaboration between nations.
Quoting an African proverb, he stated, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” stressing that Ghana intends to go far with the Czech Republic as a strategic partner.
The seminar formed part of Czech President Petr Pavel’s three-day state visit to Ghana and brought together business leaders, policymakers, and investors from both nations to explore avenues for collaboration.
President Mahama pointed out Ghana’s strategic location and youthful population as key assets that complement the Czech Republic’s industrial and technological capabilities. “Together, we can build a partnership that drives economic transformation and benefits future generations,” he said.
President Pavel echoed the sentiment, calling on political leaders to create enabling environments for the private sector to thrive. “We politicians must open the door—and I believe both President Mahama and I have the goodwill to open it wide,” he remarked.
The two leaders’ commitment to expanding ties signals a new chapter in Ghana-Czech relations, with focus areas likely to include trade, industrial development, technology transfer, and capacity building.
