In a move set to enhance travel flexibility and improve passenger experience, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced extended operating hours at two key regional airports—Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport.
Starting June 1, 2025, Prempeh I International Airport will remain open until 11 p.m., a significant extension from its previous closing time of 8 p.m. Meanwhile, Tamale International Airport will now operate until 10 p.m., up from the earlier 6 p.m. cutoff.
The decision aims to better accommodate increasing passenger demand and facilitate smoother flight scheduling for domestic airlines. The GCAA has already issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) informing all airlines of the change and has urged domestic carriers to ramp up flight frequencies to and from these airports.
Travelers are advised to take note of the revised hours when planning their journeys, as the extended service window offers greater flexibility for evening departures and arrivals.
This development marks a key step in Ghana’s broader strategy to modernize its aviation infrastructure and improve regional connectivity, making air travel more accessible and convenient for passengers across the country.
