Ghana is seeking to deepen cooperation with India in pharmaceuticals, agricultural mechanisation, industrialisation and technology as the two countries explore new areas of economic partnership.
The issues are expected to feature prominently when India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, begins a working visit to Ghana from October 6 to 7, 2026.
The visit, at the invitation of Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is expected to provide an opportunity for both countries to identify areas where closer cooperation can support Ghana’s development priorities.
Pharmaceutical development is expected to be a key area of discussion under President John Dramani Mahama’s Accra Reset agenda.
Ghana is also expected to seek stronger Indian collaboration in agriculture, particularly in the mechanisation of farming and the development of value-added agricultural products.
The two sides are further expected to explore opportunities for India to support Ghana’s industrialisation drive and efforts to create jobs.
Education and technology will also form part of the discussions, with Ghana expected to pursue expanded scholarship opportunities and stronger partnerships in information technology.
The proposed areas of cooperation reflect Ghana’s efforts to attract international partnerships that can contribute to domestic production, skills development, technology transfer and employment.
The visit will also provide an opportunity for the two countries to build on their longstanding bilateral relationship and identify new areas of mutual interest.
Dr Jaishankar’s working visit is scheduled to run from October 6 to 7, 2026.
