In a bold move to enhance youth entrepreneurship and streamline access to government programs, the Government of Ghana is set to launch a comprehensive digital platform that will integrate all 21 ministries. The initiative aims to provide young entrepreneurs with easy access to funding opportunities, investment prospects, and government-backed programs.
Unveiling the initiative at the AgriBiz Youth and Women Dialogue in Accra, Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, emphasized the platform’s potential to drive economic growth by eliminating bureaucratic hurdles and making crucial information easily accessible.
“We are creating a one-stop digital hub where all ministries will showcase their programs, funding options, and opportunities for young entrepreneurs. This will help them make informed business decisions and access the resources they need to succeed,” Opare Addo stated.
This initiative comes at a critical time, with Ghana’s youth unemployment rate at 19.7% and 57% of the population under 25. Addressing the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs through digital innovation is seen as a key step toward sustainable economic transformation.
At the event, Daniel Antwi, Executive Director of Africa Skills Hub, highlighted the transformative power of agribusiness, urging bold leadership and strategic investments in youth-led ventures.
“This is more than a discussion—it is a defining moment. We must rethink agribusiness as a catalyst for economic development and ensure that young people and women have access to the capital, land, and technology they need to thrive,” Antwi emphasized.
He noted that innovation in food production, processing, and trade could significantly boost the economy and create long-term employment opportunities.
Adding to the conversation, Afua Ansre, UN Women Ghana’s Country Representative, highlighted the role of technology in reshaping agribusiness and unlocking economic opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
“We need to change the outdated perception of agribusiness and inspire youth to see its potential. Across Africa, young entrepreneurs are leading agritech innovations—from drone-assisted irrigation to AI-powered soil analysis and digital marketplaces. These advancements are revolutionizing the sector and creating new business prospects,” Ansre explained.
Africa Skills Hub, a leading enterprise support organization, continues to empower young entrepreneurs and women through skills development, business incubation, and entrepreneurship training. Thousands of young people across Ghana have benefited from their programs, acquiring the expertise needed to build sustainable businesses.
With the forthcoming digital platform, the government is taking a major step toward bridging the information gap that has long hindered young entrepreneurs. By centralizing access to government resources, the initiative will promote innovation, foster economic transformation, and position young entrepreneurs as key drivers of national development.
As Ghana seeks to reduce youth unemployment and strengthen its entrepreneurial ecosystem, this tech-driven initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in unlocking new opportunities and shaping the country’s economic future.
