President John Dramani Mahama has announced a decisive push to revive stalled road construction projects across Ghana, following a comprehensive audit by the Auditor-General into contracts awarded during the previous government.
The findings have cleared the path for contractors who had abandoned sites to return and complete essential infrastructure works.
Addressing residents during his Thank You Tour in Koforidua, President Mahama highlighted the audit as a crucial step toward restoring transparency and ensuring that the government’s flagship Big Push Agenda delivers on its promise of nationwide development.
“With the audit concluded, we are ready to move forward and deliver critical road infrastructure that connects every region and community,” the President said. “Our goal is equitable development—no part of Ghana will be left behind.”
In a strong message to contractors, President Mahama warned that the administration will not tolerate any fraudulent practices, specifically addressing concerns about double payments made from both the Road Fund and Ministry of Finance.
“Any contractor found to have received payments twice will face serious sanctions. This government stands firmly on principles of accountability and transparency,” he stressed.
The President’s remarks underline the administration’s commitment to rooting out corruption and inefficiency in public works while accelerating infrastructure projects crucial for economic growth and regional integration.
