The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has thrown down the gauntlet to the newly constituted board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), challenging them to spearhead an aggressive domestic revenue mobilization agenda while stamping out corruption and smuggling.
Swearing in the nine-member board on Monday, Dr. Forson stressed that Ghana’s economic resilience depends on the performance of the GRA. He called for bold leadership and ethical stewardship, urging the board to treat integrity as non-negotiable.
“Everything we aim to do as a government hinges on the revenue you collect. We must look inward and take bold steps to boost domestic revenue. It is also time we dealt decisively with smuggling and revenue leakages,” he charged.
Leading the new board is Hon. George Ricketts Hagan, former Deputy Finance Minister and sitting Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South. He is joined by the GRA Commissioner, Mr. Anthony Sarpong, and seven other distinguished members from public service and civil society.
