Efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the Ledzokuku Municipality received a boost as the Greater Accra Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Robert Amesiya, embarked on a strategic visit to the area to deepen collaboration and strengthen frontline service delivery.
The visit, part of Dr. Amesiya’s broader regional familiarisation tour, underscored the importance of stakeholder alignment in delivering quality and responsive health services at the municipal level.
Accompanied by top officials including Mr. Emmanuel Taadi, Deputy Director of Administration, and Dr. Farida Abdullai, Deputy Director of Public Health, the Regional Health Director began his engagements at the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly. There, he held high-level discussions with Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Israel Adjetey Otchwenmah and other key local government officials on enhancing institutional coordination to address local health needs.
The meeting highlighted mutual goals between the Health Directorate and the Assembly, particularly the MCE’s vision of rebranding Ledzokuku as a hub of high-quality healthcare delivery. Mr. Otchwenmah reaffirmed the Assembly’s support to the municipal health team and pledged to prioritize healthcare in the municipality’s development agenda.
Dr. Amesiya’s visit continued at the Ledzokuku Municipal Health Directorate, where he interacted with public health workers and facility staff from the Teshie Community Clinic and Camp 2 Health Centre. He emphasized the need for continuous staff motivation, ethical adherence, and a commitment to feedback-based improvement to maintain public trust in the health system.
At the LEKMA Hospital, Dr. Amesiya and the MCE toured key areas including the emergency and maternity wards, a newly completed patient toilet facility, and a modern liquid oxygen plant donated by the U.S. Government—a vital infrastructure upgrade aimed at boosting the hospital’s emergency care capabilities.
During a town-hall-style engagement with hospital staff, Dr. Amesiya introduced the four-pronged strategic approach being promoted by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service to enhance nationwide service efficiency. He praised the LEKMA team for maintaining high environmental standards and professionalism, adding that a clean and well-managed facility is instrumental in attracting and retaining patients.
The MCE echoed the call for excellence, encouraging staff to uphold the hospital’s reputation through dedication and innovation. “Ledzokuku must stand out not just for its infrastructure, but for the quality of care and professionalism shown across all health facilities,” he said.
The visit concluded with renewed commitment from both the Health Directorate and the Municipal Assembly to work together in addressing gaps and leveraging new opportunities for improved healthcare delivery across the municipality.
