Healthcare delivery in the Juaboso District has received a major boost following the donation of life-saving equipment and transportation logistics by the Member of Parliament for Juaboso and Minister for Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
In a move aimed at strengthening maternal and neonatal care, Mr. Akandoh presented five incubators and ten motorcycles to the Juaboso District Health Directorate.
The incubators are to be distributed between the Juaboso Government Hospital and the Kofikrom SDA Hospital, while the motorcycles will be deployed across ten Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds within the district.
According to Mr. Akandoh, the donation responds to critical needs expressed by healthcare workers and is part of a broader national strategy to enhance rural healthcare accessibility and improve health outcomes for mothers and newborns.
> “We are committed to removing barriers to healthcare access, especially in remote areas. These motorcycles will help frontline workers reach communities that are otherwise difficult to access, and the incubators will play a vital role in reducing neonatal mortality,” he stated.
Health officials welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
Dr. Deborah Mensah, the District Director of Health Services, who received the items on behalf of the directorate, expressed deep appreciation, noting that the incubators would significantly improve the survival rate of preterm babies, while the motorcycles would enhance community outreach programmes.
“This support will directly improve our ability to deliver timely and quality healthcare to mothers and children, especially in hard-to-reach communities,” she said.
The donation highlights the ongoing challenges rural health facilities face in accessing essential logistics and equipment, but also signals a growing commitment from local leadership to bridge the gap between policy and practice in healthcare service delivery.
