Juventus have strengthened their squad with two deadline-day additions from the Premier League, bringing in Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr on season-long loan deals.
The Serie A giants have agreed to pay £3.5 million for Woltemade’s temporary transfer from Newcastle, with no option for Juventus to sign the forward permanently at the end of the season.
Woltemade’s arrival comes after Juventus considered a move for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, but ultimately decided against pursuing the Dutchman after his proposed transfer to Fiorentina failed to materialise.
Juventus reportedly viewed Woltemade as a more suitable option for their squad, while the financial terms of the deal also worked in the Italian club’s favour.
Unlike the proposed arrangement for Zirkzee, Newcastle did not demand an obligation to buy as part of the Woltemade loan agreement, allowing Juventus to bring in the forward without committing to a permanent transfer.
The German forward therefore becomes one of two Premier League players recruited by Juventus on deadline day, with Sarr completing the second deal.
Juventus will pay £2.1 million to take Sarr on loan from Tottenham for the 2026-27 campaign. Unlike Woltemade’s agreement, however, Sarr’s deal contains an obligation to buy for £23.6 million if specified conditions are fulfilled during the season.
The move brings an end, at least temporarily, to Sarr’s spell in north London. The Senegal international joined Tottenham from Metz in 2021 and went on to make more than 100 Premier League appearances for the club.
He was also part of the Tottenham side that won the Europa League in 2025.
At international level, Sarr has established himself as an important member of the Senegal squad, earning 42 caps since making his debut in 2021. He was also part of the Senegal team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022.
For Juventus, the two moves provide reinforcements from the Premier League while giving the club flexibility over their long-term commitments.
Woltemade offers an attacking option without a permanent purchase commitment, while Sarr’s loan includes a pathway to a permanent move should he meet the agreed conditions.
The deals underline Juventus’ approach to the transfer deadline: strengthening immediately while carefully managing the financial risks attached to permanent transfers.
