Mr Bright Solomon Kumordzie, Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to Togo and former Ketu South Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged aspirants in the upcoming constituency elections to make their campaign messages about ideas, unity and party development.
He said candidates seeking executive positions should present clear plans for strengthening the party rather than resorting to personal attacks, hate speech and character assassination.
Mr Kumordzie made the call while reflecting on his eight-year experience as Constituency Chairman, a position he held before his appointment as Deputy High Commissioner.
He said his years in party leadership had demonstrated the importance of hard work, constructive engagement and unity in building a strong political organisation.
Mr Kumordzie recalled that he faced allegations during his own campaign for the chairmanship, but delegates eventually assessed the candidates and made their decision.
He said the experience reinforced his conviction that aspirants should allow their vision and plans for the party to guide their campaigns.
“As I am stepping aside for a new leadership to take over, I would like to caution all aspirants against hate speech and messages that will not be in the interest of party building,” he said.
Mr Kumordzie said Ketu South had historically been an important constituency for the NDC and required leaders capable of bringing members together and working to strengthen the party’s support base.
He also urged delegates to pay attention to messages centred on peace, development and togetherness when considering the candidates.
The NDC is scheduled to hold its 2026 constituency elections on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, at designated venues across the constituencies.
