Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary and presidential aspirant, Kwabena Agyepong, has highlighted the importance of emotional preparedness as he campaigns in the party’s upcoming internal elections.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Agyepong said political contests require maturity and resilience, stressing that candidates must be ready to accept any outcome.
“I believe in an election, it’s not like a football game. It’s either you win or you do not win, and you have to prepare yourself emotionally for either outcome, which is what I have done,” he stated.
He noted that entering the race with a clear mindset, understanding that victory is never guaranteed, is essential in politics, which demands patience, mental strength, and acceptance of results.
Agyepong said he remains focused on engaging party members and presenting his ideas, rather than being influenced by public speculation about standings in the contest.
“So yes, I don’t dismiss them, but at the end of the day, I’m a very focused person,” he added, underlining his commitment to campaigning on principles and constructive dialogue.
His remarks come as the NPP prepares for a competitive flagbearer election, with party delegates expected to decide the candidate to lead the party into the next general elections.
