The McDan Group of Companies has strongly rejected a public caution issued by Ghana Airports Company Limited over a disputed 16-acre parcel of land on the Spintex Road, describing the move as premature and harmful to its corporate reputation.
The dispute centres on a prime property located adjacent to and opposite Action Chapel International, which GACL claims remains under litigation despite alleged attempts by private entities to market or sell portions of the land.
In a “Buyer Beware” notice issued earlier, GACL warned prospective buyers, developers, and investors against engaging in any transactions involving the land, alleging that subsidiaries of the McDan Group — Airport Logistics Limited and McDan Shipping Company Limited — were offering the property for sale while the matter remained before the courts.
According to GACL, the High Court’s Land Division in Accra ruled in its favour on May 6, 2025, granting the state-owned company the right to repossess the disputed land.
However, the McDan Group has since appealed the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
Responding to the public notice, the Group insisted that the case remains active before a “court of competent jurisdiction” and therefore falls under the legal principle of sub judice.
“The McDan Group views the publication and the narratives surrounding it as unfortunate, premature, and calculated attempts to undermine the hard-earned reputation, credibility, and integrity of the Group and its Executive Chairman, Dr Daniel McKorley,” the company said in a statement.
The Group stressed that it had always operated within the confines of the law and had not acted outside the judicial process at any stage of the dispute.
“At no point has the Company acted in disregard of the legal process, nor will it do so,” the statement added.
McDan further urged the public, business partners, and prospective investors to exercise restraint and await the final determination of the matter by the courts before drawing conclusions.
The company also reaffirmed confidence in Ghana’s judicial system while warning that it reserved the right to pursue legal action against any publication or conduct it considered prejudicial to the ongoing proceedings or damaging to its reputation.
Meanwhile, GACL has maintained that no party currently has legal authority to lease, transfer, or dispose of any portion of the disputed land until the appeal process is concluded.
The airport company also cautioned that any person entering into transactions concerning the property does so at their own risk.
The case has attracted significant public attention due to the strategic commercial value of the Spintex Road property and the involvement of two high-profile corporate entities.
