Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), has said he will fully cooperate with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over its investigation into alleged financial and procurement irregularities at the Secretariat.
Mr Aboagye said he would make himself available whenever investigators require him, but insisted that it would be inappropriate to publicly discuss the substance of the investigation while it is ongoing.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on Tuesday, August 11, he said he would leave all questions about the allegations to EOCO.
“Whenever EOCO needs me, I’ll go. And I’ll go and have conversations,” he said.
The former IMCCoD Executive Secretary repeatedly declined to address specific allegations, including whether he had been asked to refund any allegedly misused public funds.
“Anybody that has anything to know should ask the right people. You’re asking the wrong person,” he said.
Mr Aboagye also rejected suggestions that he was avoiding the issue, explaining that his silence was intended to avoid interfering with an active investigation.
“It’s unnecessary for you to have a conversation around a matter that EOCO says they are investigating. I may even be giving out information that I’m not supposed to give up,” he said.
Asked whether he had been formally charged or was a suspect in the investigation, he again declined to provide details.
“I don’t know. Ask EOCO. I don’t know,” he said.
His comments come after a High Court order issued on August 3 froze five bank accounts and four landed properties linked to him as part of EOCO’s investigations.
The court order temporarily prohibits transactions involving the accounts and bars the sale, transfer, mortgage or disposal of the affected properties until further orders of the court.
EOCO is investigating alleged financial and procurement irregularities involving approximately GH¢55 million during Mr Aboagye’s tenure as Executive Secretary of IMCCoD.
The investigation follows a forensic audit covering the period between August 1, 2022 and February 2, 2025.
EOCO confirmed in July 2026 that Mr Aboagye, former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah, and other individuals were being investigated over alleged misappropriation, misapplication, diversion and theft of public funds.
Mr Aboagye maintained that he would continue to cooperate with investigators while refraining from discussing the case publicly until the investigative process is concluded.
