The Millennium Supporters’ Union of Ghana (MISUGHA), Volta Regional Chapter, is set to roll out a community-focused football engagement programme with the launch of its 2026 FIFA World Cup Village Initiative on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
The event, scheduled to take place at Agotime-Ziope EP Basic School in the Volta Region at 1300 hours, will officially introduce a project designed to create shared viewing centres for football fans during the global tournament.
According to the Volta Regional Secretary of MISUGHA, Frank Adzigbli, the initiative will bring residents together to watch World Cup matches on giant screens installed in selected communities across the region.
He explained that the project is aimed at promoting unity, youth participation, and peaceful social interaction through football, especially during major international sporting events.
Mr. Adzigbli noted that the launch will bring together regional and district chapters of MISUGHA as well as other stakeholders, highlighting the importance of collaboration in ensuring the success of the initiative.
He added that the World Cup Village concept is expected to transform selected communities into vibrant fan zones, offering young people opportunities to engage with the sport in a communal setting.
MISUGHA’s Volta Chapter, he said, has consistently played a key role in mobilising football supporters and promoting national team activities, and this new project builds on that experience.
Residents of Agotime-Ziope and surrounding communities are being encouraged to attend the launch in large numbers as the initiative seeks to bring the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup closer to local fans.
Organisers say the project reflects MISUGHA’s broader commitment to grassroots sports development and its goal of enhancing the football viewing experience across the Volta Region.
