Residents of Atebubu in the Bono East Region are set to enjoy easier access to driver and vehicle licensing services following the opening of a new office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the town.
The new facility is expected to eliminate the need for residents to travel to other locations to access services provided by the authority, reducing the time and cost associated with obtaining driver and vehicle-related documentation.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Mr Foster Akwasi Asante, inaugurated the office at a ceremony in Atebubu and assured residents of the Authority’s commitment to providing efficient and quality services.
He said establishing the office was part of efforts to make DVLA services more accessible to clients, particularly those living in communities that previously had to travel long distances to access the authority’s services.
Mr Asante urged residents to support the work of the DVLA and cooperate with officials to ensure the smooth operation of the new facility.
Beyond service delivery, he said the office was also expected to contribute to the local economy by creating employment opportunities for some young people in the area.
The Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area, Ohempon Dr Yeboah Asiamah, welcomed the establishment of the office and commended the stakeholders whose efforts contributed to bringing the facility to the community.
He expressed particular appreciation to the Atebubu Stool Land Secretariat for providing a two-year rental accommodation for the DVLA to operate from.
According to him, the presence of the office responds to one of the immediate development needs of the people of Atebubu by bringing an important public service closer to them.
He also expressed gratitude to the government for supporting the establishment of the facility and improving access to essential services in the area.
The opening of the Atebubu office is expected to strengthen the DVLA’s presence in the municipality while improving convenience for residents and generating new opportunities for local youth.
