The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive instructing its members to refrain from discussing internal party matters in the media, warning that such actions could deepen divisions and create disaffection within the party.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress felt by its members following the defeat in the last election but stressed the importance of unity and discipline as they work towards rebuilding.
The NPP leadership cautioned that public disagreements could harm the party’s image and urged members to allow internal structures to address grievances rather than resorting to media outbursts.
“All party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement emphasized.
This directive aligns with the party’s constitution, particularly Article 3(5), which mandates members to promote and defend the good name of the party.
The statement further warned of consequences for members who violate the directive, stating that offenders would be referred to disciplinary committees at the national, regional, or constituency levels.
To reinforce party unity, the leadership encouraged members to focus on strengthening the NPP for future elections and avoid actions that could further divide the party.
“Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” the statement concluded.
This move comes as the party navigates post-election tensions, with leaders hoping to restore stability and refocus on long-term electoral goals.
