Nigerian singer Orezi has distanced himself from the extravagant gift-giving trend among celebrities, making it clear that he has never promised a woman anything worth ₦300 million.
In an interview with Echo Room, the “Rihanna” hitmaker addressed growing speculation about celebrities making outrageous pledges in relationships, particularly amid the ongoing controversy involving Burna Boy and socialite Sophia Egbueje.
“I’m not part of the Lamborghini boys,” Orezi said. “I have never promised a lady anything worth ₦300 million. Am I crazy?”
While he denied making any outlandish financial commitments, Orezi admitted to once promising a woman a house—but never following through.
“I once promised a lady a house, but I didn’t deliver. Why would I buy her a house? For what?” he questioned.
Orezi also pointed out that broken promises aren’t exclusive to men, suggesting that women also fail to keep their commitments in relationships.
“Ladies promise to be faithful to one partner, and they often fail. So, let every gender keep promising. It’s a dog-eat-dog world,” he joked.
Orezi’s remarks come at a time when social media is abuzz over reports that Burna Boy allegedly bought a Lamborghini for Sophia Egbueje and later took it back. The debate has sparked conversations about the pressure, expectations, and financial commitments in high-profile relationships.
By adding his voice to the discussion, Orezi has positioned himself as someone who steers clear of excessive spending on romantic partners, reinforcing his stance on realistic commitments in relationships.
Born Esegine Allen, Orezi is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer known for his versatility in Afrobeats, dancehall, and reggae. He gained fame in 2013 with his hit single “Rihanna” and later released his debut album, The Ghen Ghen Album, in 2015, featuring songs like Shoki, You Garrit, and Ogede.
He has worked with top Nigerian artists such as Davido, Wizkid, and Flavour, solidifying his place in the music industry.
