During his two-day “Reset Ghana Tour” in the Bono Region, President John Dramani Mahama called on traditional authorities and community members to actively engage with their assemblies to ensure the effective use of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
The President emphasized that the fund should be channeled into projects that deliver tangible benefits to communities. He directed Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to collaborate closely with Assembly Members to guarantee judicious investment of the DACF.
President Mahama also highlighted his government’s broader development initiatives, including the nationwide construction of standard markets in all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and the uncapping of funds for the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Ahmed Ibrahim reaffirmed the government’s commitment to timely DACF disbursements and noted that allowances for Assembly Members, paramount chiefs, and queen-mothers had been increased, while judicial committees of chieftaincy institutions are being strengthened.
Governs Kwame Agbodza outlined progress under the “Big Push” road infrastructure programme, highlighting ongoing road projects in the Bono Region, including the Jinijini-Sampa Road, scheduled for completion by 2027.
The President’s visit provided a platform for citizens to engage directly with the government on economic matters and local development, underscoring a focus on accountability, infrastructure, and community-driven growth.
