The home of Bawku Central MP and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has been set on fire by suspected bandits in the conflict-prone town of Bawku, according to a report by 3FM.
This latest act of violence follows the recent burning of police facilities in the area, further heightening insecurity in the Upper East Region.
At least one person has reportedly died, with several others sustaining injuries in the string of violent incidents plaguing the town in recent days.
The arson attack comes just days after the MP publicly condemned an earlier shooting incident and distanced himself from any law enforcement actions taken in the area.
“No decision taken by law enforcers should be put at my doorstep,” Ayariga emphasized in a strongly worded statement earlier this week.
The motives behind the attacks remain unclear, but security agencies are under mounting pressure to restore calm and protect both residents and public officials in the troubled region.
