Three Ex-GIIF Board Members Deny Approving Sky Train Funding in Court

In a dramatic turn of events at the Accra High Court, three former board members of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) have delivered bombshell witness statements, unanimously denying ever approving funding for the now-notorious Sky Train project. Their testimonies not only intensify the criminal case against former GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah and former Board Chair Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi but also eerily echo a prophecy delivered earlier this year by Ghanaian preacher, Apostle Francis Amoako Attah.

The trio—Yvonne Odoley Sowah, Nana Afua Kyerewaa Ababio, and Cecilia Gambrah—served on the GIIF board between 2017 and 2021. Each, in separately filed statements, denied any knowledge or approval of the $2 million disbursement to Africa Investor Holdings Limited, which was purportedly made to kick-start the urban Sky Train project in Accra.

Their collective denial raises serious questions about whether proper governance procedures were bypassed—an issue at the very heart of the ongoing prosecution.

But in a spiritual twist, this unfolding legal drama appears to align with a prophetic warning issued by Apostle Amoako Attah as far back as January 5, 2025. Speaking during a church service, the Apostle prophesied that a time was coming when certain key figures close to influential political leaders and financiers would betray or abandon them, leading to their downfall. The prophecy, rich in biblical metaphor, cited the rise of a new “Pharaoh who knew not Joseph,” symbolizing the arrival of unfamiliar allies who would dismantle long-standing bonds.

The Apostle’s prophetic utterance took sharper shape on May 30, 2025, during a radio broadcast. He warned that someone “very close” to a prominent figure—interpreted by many at the time to be former President Donald Trump—would betray him, leading to political and legal turmoil. However, others now see its uncanny relevance to events in Ghana, particularly the Sky Train trial.

Apostle Amoako Attah reiterated the prophecy on June 3, adding that “from now until the 11th of June, either betrayal or impeachment shall visit the corridors of power.”

As testimonies pile up against the former GIIF executives, many in Ghana’s prophetic and Christian communities are connecting these developments to the Apostle’s predictions.

In their statements:

  • Yvonne Odoley Sowah said there was “no document submitted to the Board for Sky Train funding.”
  • Nana Afua Kyerewaa Ababio added that “no formal request was made to the Investment Committee,” and thus no board recommendation existed.
  • Cecilia Gambrah firmly concluded, “The Board did not approve any funding for the Sky Train project during my service.”

These revelations may become the pivotal evidence the Attorney-General’s Office needs to secure a conviction. The accused—Solomon Asamoah and Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi—face charges of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, conspiracy, and intentional dissipation of public funds.

The Sky Train, once hyped as a transformative urban transport solution, has become a costly ghost. Despite a grand vision of 200km of elevated railways with a price tag of $2.6 to $3.2 billion, the only tangible outcome so far is the $2 million payment in 2019—money the prosecution says was spent without board approval.

In retrospect, what seemed like a political scandal now also reads like a script lifted straight from the Apostle’s pulpit—a prophecy of broken alliances, exposed secrets, and legal consequences unfolding before a watching nation.

As the case continues, observers are not only following the legal arguments but also keeping an eye on the spiritual insights that appear to have forewarned it all.
