Tiger Woods is preparing to step back into competitive golf for the first time in more than a year, taking part in the TGL season finale on Tuesday. The 50-year-old golf legend has been sidelined since undergoing back surgery in October 2025 to replace a spinal disk, marking a challenging period following multiple operations over the last two years.
Woods last competed at TGL in February 2025, while his final PGA Tour appearance came nearly 20 months ago. Posting on his Jupiter Links Golf Club X account, Woods announced his return with a photo and the simple caption: “I’m back.”
The TGL, an indoor PGA Tour-backed league set up in Florida, has kept Woods involved in a non-playing capacity this season. His team recently defeated Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common in the semi-final, setting up a showdown with Los Angeles Golf Club for the best-of-three final. Woods will replace Kevin Kisner in the season finale, joining teammates to attempt to claim the title.
Speaking about his recovery, Woods acknowledged the ongoing challenges of competing at the highest level. “Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disc replacement is not a lot of fun,” he said. Despite these hurdles, he has not ruled out playing in the Masters from 9–12 April, a tournament he has won five times.
Woods’ comeback follows a series of serious injuries, including leg trauma from a 2021 car crash, a back operation in September 2024, and a ruptured Achilles tendon in March 2025. “I’ve had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn’t quite heal like it was when I was 24,” he said.
Tuesday’s indoor finale offers Woods an opportunity to return to competitive play in a controlled environment before potentially tackling the hilly challenges of Augusta National. Fans worldwide will be watching to see if the five-time Masters champion can make a victorious return.
