Tribe Culture Fest CEO Denies $611,000 Illegal Payment Allegations, Demands Proof from Sports Minister

In a major development surrounding the governance and financial oversight of public-private cultural partnerships in Ghana, Nana Boateng Gyimah, the Chief Executive Officer of Tribe Culture Fest, has strongly refuted grave allegations made by the Minister for Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams. The controversy stems from claims that Gyimah and his organization unlawfully received and withheld a sum of US$611,000.
In an official, press release issued on October 12, 2026, titled “Response to the Sports Minister’s Allegations,” the festival executive categorically denied all accusations of financial wrongdoing, illegal receipts, or avoiding refund obligations. The public statement highlights a sharp escalation in tensions between event organizers and government officials regarding financial accountability and contractual agreements.
Clarifying Contractual Partnerships
Setting the record straight regarding the operational structure of Tribe Culture Fest, Gyimah emphasized that all institutional dealings were conducted transparently and directly with authorized public entities. He clarified that Tribe Culture Fest’s official agreement was executed strictly with state bodies—specifically the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). Furthermore, he explicitly denied accepting any funds from private individuals in connection with the arrangements in question.
“I categorically deny the allegations attributed to the Minister for Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams, that I or Tribe Culture Fest illegally received US611,000 and avoiding a refund,” Gyimah stated in the release[span_7](start_span)[span_7](end_span). “For the record, Tribe Culture’s agreement was solely with the National Sports Authority and Ghana Tourism Authority. Neither I nor Tribe Culture Fest received the alleged US611,000 from any private individual in connection with the arrangements in question.”
A Call for Documentary Evidence
Rather than remaining passive in the face of public scrutiny, the CEO issued a direct challenge to the Sports Minister, demanding that Hon. Kofi Adams produce verifiable proof to substantiate the heavy allegations. Gyimah noted that public assertions of this magnitude require concrete evidence rather than unverified claims.
Specifically, Gyimah called on the Minister for Sports to present:
Any formal agreement, authorization, or official consent involving him or Tribe Culture Fest that establishes the alleged financial arrangement.
Complete and verifiable payment records detailing who disbursed the funds, who received the money, the precise dates of the transactions, and the exact formula or auditing process used to arrive at the US$611,000 figure.
Protecting Reputation and Threatening Legal Action
The statement underscores the potential damage that unverified accusations can cause to major cultural brands and private enterprise leadership. Gyimah voiced serious concern over the impact the Minister’s statements could have on the integrity and commercial reputation of Tribe Culture Fest, an event platform built on public trust and cultural promotion.
He signaled a firm stance, stating that if the Minister fails to substantiate his claims or publicly retract them, the matter will immediately be turned over to legal counsel for formal action.
“My reputation and the integrity of Tribe Culture must not be undermined by unsubstantiated public accusations,” Gyimah added. “I call on the Minister to substantiate his allegations or withdraw them and correct the public record or have my lawyers to deal with.”
Implications for the Sports and Tourism Sectors
This high-profile dispute highlights broader challenges in managing public sector collaborations with private entertainment and cultural organizers. As public calls for financial transparency grow, the burden of proof now rests firmly on the Ministry for Sports to either release transaction details and evidence of the alleged $611,000 payment or issue a full public retraction to clear the record. Until documentary evidence is provided, the standoff threatens to complicate future partnerships between the ministry, the National Sports Authority, and event management firms across Ghana.
