Efforts by Ghanaian authorities to bring former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, back to face legal proceedings have advanced following her arrest in the United States.
According to a statement issued by Victor Emmanuel Smith, Mrs. Tamakloe-Attionu is currently in custody at the Nevada Southern Detention Centre in Pahrump, Nevada. She was apprehended by U.S. Marshals on January 6, 2026, and has remained detained since her arrest.
The development follows an extradition request formally submitted by Ghana to U.S. authorities in July 2024, signaling renewed momentum in the long-running case involving the former head of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).
While further legal processes are expected to determine the next steps, the arrest marks a significant milestone in cross-border cooperation between Ghana and the United States on law enforcement and judicial matters.
Authorities have not yet disclosed when extradition hearings may commence or how long the process is expected to take.
