West African Boxing Association (WABA) titleholder Saviour Gad has formally presented his championship belt to Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, the Volta Regional Representative on the Council of State, during a courtesy visit at Weta in the Ketu North Municipality.
The visit on Thursday, April 30, 2026, also served as an opportunity for the boxer to update Dr Kwamigah-Atokple on his preparations ahead of an upcoming defence of his WABA title.
Dr Kwamigah-Atokple commended the reigning champion for his discipline, resilience, and determination, describing his success as a source of pride for the Volta Region.
He noted that Gad’s rise in boxing reflects the importance of hard work, sacrifice, and self-belief in achieving excellence.
“His journey is a reminder that greatness is not always born in comfort, but in persistence, sacrifice and an unyielding belief in one’s craft,” he said.
The Council of State member assured the boxer of his continued support, pledging to help provide opportunities and resources that would strengthen his preparation for title defence and future international competitions.
He added that supporting young talents like Gad was key to nurturing Ghana’s sporting potential on the global stage.
Saviour Gad captured the WABA title on April 4, 2026, after defeating Eliasu Sulley via a seventh-round technical knockout at the Aborigines Beach Hotel in Keta.
The victory marked a significant milestone in his career and further elevated his standing within Ghana’s boxing community.
