Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency and former Minister for Education, has officially declared his intention to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership ahead of the party’s internal elections.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by his office on Wednesday, signaling his readiness to lead the party into the next general elections when nominations are opened.
Dr. Adutwum, known for his transformative approach to education during his ministerial tenure, said his decision to join the race is rooted in a commitment to innovation, discipline, and inclusive development.
Highlighting his record in public service, he emphasized the need for a leadership style that strengthens the NPP’s legacy while accelerating national progress.
“The time has come for the NPP to build upon its legacy with a renewed sense of purpose,” the statement read. “Dr. Adutwum is stepping forward to offer servant leadership that unites the party and inspires hope across the nation.”
He also expressed gratitude to the people of Bosomtwe and the wider NPP membership for their support over the years. As the party prepares for its internal contest, he pledged to run a campaign based on ideas, respect, and the core values of the NPP—particularly its guiding principle of “Development in Freedom.”
Details regarding his official campaign launch and policy proposals will be shared in the coming weeks.
Dr. Adutwum joins a growing list of contenders vying for the NPP’s top spot as the party looks toward the 2028 general elections.
