In a shift from merely outlining deployment numbers, the Accra Regional Police Command is spotlighting community partnership as the cornerstone of Ablekuma North’s security plan for Friday’s rerun.
Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, explained that beyond stationing officers at 19 polling sites, the operation will rely on local volunteers to liaise between voters and law enforcement, easing access with temporary pedestrian corridors and helping identify suspicious activity.
“By working hand‑in‑hand with residents, we enhance both trust and visibility,” Obeng said. The Command’s hotlines (18555 and 192) have been expanded to include text reporting, allowing citizens to share concerns without leaving their homes.
Strategic vehicle checks will manage traffic flow near polling centers, while “neighborhood watch” briefings—held in churches and community halls—aim to remind voters of their rights and the importance of a peaceful process.
Officials hope this community‑focused approach will reinforce adherence to electoral rules and ensure that the rerun concludes as smoothly as it begins.
