The stage is set for a keenly contested National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Tamale Central Constituency, where 12 aspirants will battle for the mandate of delegates on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
A total of 1,551 delegates are expected to cast their votes at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where the Electoral Commission will oversee the process.
To ensure a smooth and transparent exercise, the party, in collaboration with the Electoral Commission and other stakeholders, has created four polling stations at the stadium to ease congestion, enable early counting, and facilitate the swift declaration of results.
Party officials have urged aspirants, delegates, and supporters to demonstrate discipline and uphold the values of internal democracy, describing the primaries as an important step in strengthening the NDC’s unity and readiness for the 2028 general elections.
Meanwhile, security agencies, led by the Northern Regional Police Command, have pledged to maintain order throughout the process, with personnel from the Armed Forces, Fire Service, Immigration, and other agencies deployed to strategic points.
The Tamale Central primary is being closely watched as one of the most competitive internal elections in the region, with delegates expected to weigh experience, loyalty, and fresh ideas in choosing their preferred candidate.
