Residents of Assin Homaho in the Assin South District are expressing renewed optimism as a major community project nears completion, following a timely donation from Nurein Migyimah Shaibu, Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
The support—comprising 50 bags of cement and five packets of roofing sheets—is expected to accelerate work on what is set to become the district’s largest multipurpose community complex, designed to host meetings, training programmes, and other social activities.
Community Development Takes Centre Stage
The donation, delivered just three weeks after a request was made during a funeral gathering, has been widely praised by residents and traditional leaders as a demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
Receiving the items, Nana Duodu III, Chief of Assin Homaho, commended the swift intervention, noting that the project would significantly enhance social and economic life in the community once completed.
“This support has come at the right time and will help us push the project to completion,” he said, while calling for additional assistance to improve the local Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.
Local Impact and Community Response
The presentation, led by Mr. Thomas Cobbinah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on behalf of the MP, drew a large crowd of residents who expressed appreciation for the gesture.
Many described the intervention as a sign that rural communities are not being overlooked, with some residents highlighting the importance of the facility as a future hub for youth development, skills training, and community engagement.
Broader Implications
Beyond its immediate impact, the initiative reflects growing collaboration across constituencies and a renewed focus on rural infrastructure development. Stakeholders believe such interventions could help bridge development gaps and improve living conditions in underserved communities.
With construction progressing steadily, Assin Homaho is positioning itself for increased economic activity and stronger community cohesion, as residents look forward to the completion of the multipurpose complex.
