Dr. David Tetteh, a pharmacist and health policy professional, has been elected and sworn in as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC Professionals Forum, as the organisation inaugurates a new leadership team to strengthen its policy and professional influence.
Dr. Tetteh, who also serves on the Governing Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), brings experience in pharmaceutical practice, marketing, and health policy implementation. His inclusion on the NEC is expected to support ongoing discussions on health financing reforms and improved access to essential medicines within Ghana’s health system.
His election forms part of a broader restructuring of the Professionals Forum leadership, which party insiders say is aimed at enhancing policy engagement and strengthening technical support for the National Democratic Congress’s national agenda.
Over the years, Dr. Tetteh has held several leadership roles within the party and its professional structures, including Branch Chairman, National Operations Coordinator for the Young Professionals Forum, Director of Research for the Western North Regional Communications Bureau, and Constituency Collation Officer during the 2024 general elections.
Party officials say his elevation reflects a deliberate effort to integrate experienced professionals into decision-making structures to deepen policy input and organisational efficiency.
The newly elected executive team is led by Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, a climate scientist and Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), who now serves as President of the Professionals Forum.
In the election, Prof. Klutse secured 577 votes, representing 91 percent of valid ballots cast for the presidential position.
Other results saw Samuel Hans Wauku elected First Vice President with 414 votes against Michael Damoah’s 223, while Eben-Kay-Kwabena Hodo won the General Secretary position with 340 votes.
Dr. Joshua Doe, Sophia Ama Otabil, and Dr. Robert Doh were elected unopposed or with overwhelming margins as Deputy General Secretary, Women’s Commissioner, and Youth Commissioner respectively, each securing over 90 percent of the votes in their categories.
For the Executive Member positions, Dr. David Tetteh polled 589 votes, alongside Alexandra Mills (597), Dr. Fiasal Sulley (588), Winfred Baah (581), and Tony Atsakpa Nyagamago (564), all recording strong endorsements from delegates.
Overall, out of 1,385 registered voters, 636 cast their ballots, representing a 45.92 percent turnout.
The new leadership is expected to focus on professional mobilisation, policy development, and strategic support for the party’s social democratic agenda as it prepares for its next phase of political engagement.
