Former Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Gado, has expressed support for former NPP National Chairman hopeful, Paul Afoko, urging party members to rally behind his renewed political ambitions.
In a video statement, Alhaji Gado described Afoko’s re-emergence in frontline party politics as a positive development that should be embraced as an opportunity for continued service to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He recalled Afoko’s earlier tenure and suggested that circumstances prevented him from completing his mandate despite strong support from party members.
“Under the circumstances, he didn’t complete his term. You people went and endorsed him massively in town. But for some reason, he couldn’t complete that term,” he said.
According to him, Afoko has remained loyal and actively engaged in party affairs, contrary to perceptions that he had distanced himself from the NPP.
“He has not shied away from the party. He is not angry. He has decided that there is still an opportunity for him to serve the party,” he added.
Alhaji Gado further argued that Afoko’s renewed bid for leadership should be considered by delegates on merit, urging support for his return to party leadership structures.
He maintained that the NPP stands to benefit from experienced hands who remain committed to its progress and unity.
