The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled its National Delegates Conference for Saturday, September 19, 2026, when delegates from across the country will elect a new set of national officers to steer the affairs of the party.
The date was approved by the party’s National Council following a recommendation by the National Executive Committee (NEC) during meetings held on June 25, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 8, the NPP said the conference would be conducted in accordance with Article 10(1) of the party’s Constitution, which mandates delegates to elect national executives.
Beyond the election of new officers, the conference is also expected to consider constitutional reforms aimed at strengthening the party’s internal structures and governance.
As part of preparations, the NPP has invited members and stakeholders to submit proposals for amendments to the party’s Constitution.
According to the statement, all proposals must be delivered to the Office of the General Secretary at the party’s national headquarters or sent electronically via the designated email address no later than Friday, July 17, 2026.
The party explained that the constitutional review process is being undertaken in line with Article 19(2) of its Constitution, which provides for periodic amendments.
The NPP encouraged its members to actively participate in the exercise, describing it as an important opportunity to improve the party’s internal democratic processes, governance and organisational effectiveness.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to constitutionalism, internal democracy and the rule of law as it prepares for the National Delegates Conference in September.
