The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman for five months following a petition lodged by the Member of Parliament for the constituency,
The decision, announced on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, also refers the matter to the party’s disciplinary committee for further investigation and appropriate action.
Although details of the petition have not yet been made public, the suspension is expected to pave the way for the disciplinary committee to examine the allegations and determine whether further sanctions are warranted.
The five-month suspension means the constituency chairman will be barred from carrying out his official duties within the party while the disciplinary process is underway.
The development underscores the NDC’s internal mechanisms for resolving disputes and enforcing party discipline ahead of future political activities.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the suspended constituency chairman nor MP Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor had publicly commented on the decision.
The outcome of the disciplinary committee’s proceedings is expected to determine the chairman’s future within the party.
