New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser aspirant Vera Oye Bram-Larbi says she regrets considering leaving the party to join the political movement of former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen.
Ms Bram-Larbi, who previously aligned herself with Mr Kyerematen, said her experience had changed her view of his political leadership and the direction taken by his movement.
“God saved me from leaving the NPP to follow Alan Kyerematen,” she said in an interview with UTV monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
She alleged that Mr Kyerematen’s political approach had negatively affected some young people who followed him, claiming that they were encouraged to join his movement without receiving the level of empowerment they expected.
According to Ms Bram-Larbi, some young people who placed their political future in the movement subsequently faced uncertainty as a result of decisions taken by its leadership.
She therefore urged young members of the NPP to consider carefully the political platforms through which they seek to advance their careers and contribute to the party.
Her comments form part of her campaign for the NPP National Youth Organiser position, which she is contesting on a platform centred on strengthening the party’s youth structures.
Ms Bram-Larbi is among six candidates contesting the position in the NPP’s national executive elections scheduled for October 3, 2026.
Her campaign comes as the party prepares to elect new national executives who will be expected to strengthen the party’s organisational structures and mobilise its youth base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
While reflecting on her own political journey, Ms Bram-Larbi said her decision to remain within the NPP had ultimately reinforced her commitment to the party and influenced her decision to seek a national youth leadership position.
