Mohammed Baatima Adam, popularly known as Adam Samba, has secured another term as Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), after defeating his challenger, Inusah Amadu, in the party’s regional executive elections.
Adam Samba polled **215 votes** in the election held on Saturday, August 15, while Inusah Amadu obtained **122 votes**, giving the incumbent a decisive victory and another mandate to steer the affairs of the party in the Northern Region.
His re-election comes at a critical time for the NPP, which is undertaking efforts to reorganise its grassroots structures and revive its political fortunes ahead of the **2028 general elections**.
Speaking after the election, Adam Samba expressed gratitude to the election committee, delegates, party members, regional executives and polling station executives for their support.
He said his immediate focus would be on strengthening the party’s position in the region, particularly by increasing its number of Members of Parliament.
“Our duty [is] to form the majority seats in the Northern Region. Insha Allah, Almighty Allah, we shall do so,” he said.
The victory is expected to give Adam Samba another opportunity to lead the NPP’s regional reorganisation efforts as the party seeks to consolidate its grassroots base and regain lost parliamentary seats in the Northern Region.
With the 2028 elections approaching, the renewed leadership is likely to face the task of rebuilding party unity, mobilising supporters and developing strategies to improve the NPP’s electoral performance across the region.
