Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako Mensah, has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to take decisive action in resolving the ongoing erratic power supply affecting Ghanaians.
Expressing his concerns on social media, the MP emphasized that the persistent power outages, commonly referred to as dumsor, have created unbearable living conditions, especially amid the current heatwave.
“The problem is not just about the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) offices in Denu and Akatsi. In the Ashanti Region, the situation is even worse. The minister assured us that there was no need for a load-shedding timetable because we are not shedding load—so what happened?” he questioned.
Adomako Mensah criticized the government’s failure to address the worsening energy crisis and urged leaders to focus on practical solutions rather than shifting blame. He argued that the previous administration managed the power situation better, and the current leadership must do the same.
“A few months ago, it was all blamed on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Now, suddenly, it’s an ECG issue. Leadership must take full responsibility and fix it,” he wrote.
The MP stressed that Ghanaians are not interested in political excuses but tangible solutions to restore stable electricity.
“I posted here on February 17, 2025, that it is not about what you say—it is about how we feel! Right now, what we feel is HEAT! Leadership, leadership, leadership! Just fix it!” he demanded.
His comments have reignited the public debate over the government’s handling of the energy sector. Many citizens have echoed his sentiments, urging immediate interventions to prevent further disruptions to businesses and livelihoods.
As frustration over the power crisis grows, industry experts warn that continued instability in the energy sector could have severe economic consequences. Stakeholders are calling for a clear and transparent roadmap from the government on how it plans to resolve the crisis and ensure long-term energy security.
