New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman hopeful Paul Afoko has called on party members to put aside past differences and unite ahead of the 2028 general election, revealing that he has forgiven those he says contributed to his suspension from the party.
Speaking in an interview on Owia TV, Mr Afoko said although the events surrounding his suspension caused him great pain, he has chosen to forgive those involved and focus on the future of the party.
He explained that while certain individuals within the NPP had hurt him, he no longer harbours resentment and has entrusted the matter to God.
“Yes, the party indeed hurt me, but it was a group of party members who hurt me. I have forgiven them and given everything to God. Everything that happened is in the past,” he said.
Mr Afoko stressed that allowing past grievances to linger would only undermine the NPP’s efforts to reorganise and reclaim political power.
He said he could not stand by and watch the party struggle because of personal experiences, insisting that its success should take precedence over individual differences.
The National Chairman aspirant also appealed to other party members who may feel sidelined or aggrieved to embrace reconciliation for the sake of unity.
He urged them to forgive, move beyond past disputes and work together to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of future elections.
“Anyone with grievances towards the party should forgive and leave them in the past. Come and let’s build a bridge to the future,” he appealed.
