Ali Suraj, a former presidential staffer under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, has announced plans to contest the party’s National Nasara Organiser position when nominations officially open.
In a press release issued in Kumasi on February 17, 2026, Alhaji Suraj said his decision follows extensive consultations and encouragement from grassroots supporters and party faithful across the country. He described his ambition as part of a broader effort to revitalise the Nasara fraternity and strengthen the party’s engagement within Zongo and settler communities ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Drawing on his experience as a former Nasara Coordinator in the United States and his service on various party committees, Suraj stated that the position requires capable and experienced leadership. He expressed confidence in his ability to consolidate gains made in Muslim communities and enhance mobilisation efforts nationwide.
Outlining his vision, Suraj pledged to establish a more structured National Nasara administration and build a year-round bridge between the party and Muslim/Zongo communities. He also proposed re-energising and adequately resourcing the Nasara wing, with a focus on trust, opportunity, and discipline.
Additionally, he announced plans to introduce a welfare-driven system aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and supporting members within Zongo and settler communities.
Alhaji Suraj further called on Ghanaians to rally behind Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 elections, urging voters to grant him the mandate to lead the country.
