The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cleared all 47 aspirants who contested the vetting process for the party’s 2026 National Officers Elections, paving the way for the next stage of the internal electoral process.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) announced on Saturday, September 5, 2026, that all aspirants who appeared before the National Officers Election Vetting Committee (NOEVC) had been found suitable and eligible to contest the positions for which they filed their nominations.
The vetting exercise was conducted from August 31 to September 3, 2026, in line with the timetable issued by the NOEC.
The 47 aspirants contested across nine national officer positions, with the highest number of candidates seeking the position of National Vice-Chairperson.
The breakdown shows that 13 aspirants have been cleared for National Vice-Chairperson, while eight will contest for National Organiser and six for National Youth Organiser.
Four aspirants each have been cleared to contest for National Chairman, General Secretary and National Treasurer. Two will contest for National Women’s Organiser, five for National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser, while one aspirant has been cleared for National Communications Director.
NOEC said the clearance followed an examination of the documentation submitted by the aspirants, interactions with them and consideration of the applicable eligibility requirements.
Balloting next
With the vetting stage completed, the party is now preparing for balloting to determine the positions of the aspirants on the ballot paper.
The balloting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the NPP Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
The specific times for each category will be communicated directly to the aspirants, who may participate personally or through duly authorised representatives.
NOEC has urged all aspirants and their representatives to cooperate fully to ensure an orderly and transparent balloting exercise.
The Committee also commended the Vetting Committee for what it described as diligence and professionalism during the exercise and thanked the 47 aspirants for their cooperation.
It further appealed to aspirants, supporters and party members to conduct themselves in a manner that protects the unity and integrity of the party as the electoral process progresses.
The NPP is expected to announce further details on the remaining stages of the electoral process in due course.
