Defending champions Argentina will wear their navy blue away kit when they take on England in Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup semi-final in Atlanta, while the Three Lions will feature in their traditional all-white home strip.
The highly anticipated clash at the Atlanta Stadium kicks off at 20:00 BST and will be broadcast live on the BBC.
Argentina have worn their alternate kit only once during the tournament, in their 3-1 group-stage victory over Jordan, but will return to it for the showdown against England.
The choice of kit also revives memories of previous World Cup encounters between the two football rivals, with Argentina enjoying notable success while wearing their dark strip.
The South Americans defeated England 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, a match remembered for Diego Maradona’s controversial “Hand of God” goal and his stunning solo effort later in the game.
Argentina also overcame England on penalties in the round of 16 at the 1998 World Cup in France after the match ended in a draw.
England will be hoping to rewrite history as they seek a place in the World Cup final, while Argentina aim to defend their title and extend their impressive record against the Three Lions on football’s biggest stage.
