The Centre for Culture and Sustainable Development (CCSD) has underscored the link between community health and environmental sustainability during a health outreach held in the Gbi-Kpoeta community of the Volta Region.
The programme, organised in partnership with Accra-based Live Pure Health, offered residents free screening for blood pressure, diabetes, malaria, typhoid, prostate, and other conditions. But beyond the medical checks, CCSD leaders emphasized the broader connection between healthy living, clean surroundings, and sustainable development.
Togbe Adom Dake X, President of CCSD, said the initiative reflected the organisation’s wider mission of promoting culture, sustainable development, and environmental conservation alongside youth empowerment. He explained that community well-being cannot be achieved without addressing both personal health and environmental conditions.
“We cannot talk about productivity and development without good health. At the same time, a healthy environment is critical for sustaining healthy lives,” Togbe Dake stressed, urging residents to take both medical advice and environmental cleanliness seriously.
Supporting this point, Mama Dakesi IV, Vice President of CCSD, reminded residents that sanitation is an equally vital part of preventive healthcare. “We must always keep our surroundings neat. Good health goes hand in hand with a clean environment,” she said.
Medical experts from Live Pure Health also educated participants on the dangers of poor dietary habits, alcohol consumption, and irregular eating, which contribute to conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
Beneficiaries of the exercise expressed gratitude to CCSD, noting that the initiative had not only helped them check their health status but also reminded them of their role in safeguarding their environment for long-term community well-being.
