The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has been petitioned to investigate alleged fraudulent and unauthorised dealings in properties belonging to the estate of the late Mr. William Kwaku Aggrey.
The petition, dated September 3, 2026, was submitted to the Director of the CID on behalf of Miss Sandra, Aggrey and the beneficiaries of the late William Kwaku Aggrey’s estate.
According to the petition, the deceased had, prior to his death, made provisions in his Will for certain properties to be inherited by his wife, Madam Gladys Aggrey, and their children.
The petitioners, however, alleged that following Mr. Aggrey’s death, his brother, Mr. Daniel Aggrey, also known as Kwabena Appiah, had allegedly taken steps to sell, dispose of or otherwise deal with some of the properties intended for the benefit of Madam Gladys Aggrey and Mr Aggrey’s children.
They expressed concern that the alleged transactions have been undertaken without the consent, authority or approval of the lawful beneficiaries and/or persons legally responsible for administering the estate.
The petition said that, if established, such conduct could amount to unauthorised interference with estate property, fraudulent representations and unlawful disposal of property.
CID asked to halt further transactions
The petitioners are asking the CID to commence an immediate investigation into the activities of Mr. Daniel Aggrey in relation to the properties.
They want the police to establish whether any of the properties covered by the deceased’s Will have been sold, transferred, assigned, mortgaged, leased or otherwise disposed of without lawful authority.
The CID has also been asked to invite and question Mr. Daniel Aggrey and any other persons allegedly involved in the transactions.
Additionally, the petitioners want investigators to examine relevant Will and probate documents, land documents, sale agreements, powers of attorney, receipts and other records relating to the properties.
They have further called for investigations into individuals, companies, agents, lawyers, witnesses or prospective purchasers who may have participated in or facilitated the alleged transactions.
The petitioners are also urging the CID to take lawful steps to prevent further fraudulent or unauthorised dealings in the properties while investigations are ongoing.
Where the investigations establish criminal conduct, the CID has been asked to take appropriate legal action against all persons found to have participated in the alleged offences.
Power of Attorney granted
The petition states that Miss Sandra Aggrey and/or the lawful beneficiaries have appointed Mr. Frank Lewi Kukubor under a Power of Attorney to act on their behalf in relation to the matter.
Mr. Kukubor is authorised to liaise with the Ghana Police Service and the CID, make representations and assist with the provision of relevant documents and information.
The petitioners said they are prepared to provide the CID with copies of the deceased’s Will, probate and estate documents, title documents, correspondence and other evidence available to assist the investigation.
They have appealed to the CID to treat the matter as urgent, arguing that continued sale or transfer of the properties could prejudice the interests of the lawful beneficiaries and make recovery of the properties more difficult.
The petitioners expressed confidence that the CID would institute the necessary investigations to establish the facts and protect the interests of the lawful beneficiaries of the estate.
