Ashanti Regional NPP Chairmanship hopeful, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (Coka), has appealed to Ghanaians to extend the spirit of unity shown during the mourning of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash into everyday national life.
Reflecting on the solemn days of mourning, Coka noted that the country stood together in solidarity, devoid of political or social divisions.
“In three days of mourning, Ghana showed unity and respect. May that spirit remain after the sorrow passes,” he said in a social media post, stressing that the tragedy proved Ghanaians can rise above differences when the nation is tested.
On Friday, August 15, six of the victims were laid to rest at a state burial in Accra, where families, government officials, and mourners across the political divide came together to pay their last respects.
Coka emphasized that the unity demonstrated should not end with the funerals but must translate into a culture of compassion, prayer, and love for one another.
“All is vanity, so let’s choose love. Let’s keep praying for their families. May their souls rest in peace as they go home. Amen. Coka, I care,” he added.
The helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of eight men, has become a moment of national reflection — and for leaders like Coka, a call to transform grief into lasting social cohesion.
