The Accra Circuit Court has reinstated the bail conditions of Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after confirming that he has fully complied with directives earlier issued by the court.
The decision comes days after the court ordered his remand into police custody on June 4, 2026, following his failure to surrender his passport, a key requirement under his bail terms in an ongoing criminal matter.
At proceedings on Monday, June 8, 2026, defence counsel, Daniel Martey Addo, informed the court that all outstanding bail conditions had since been met, including the submission of the accused person’s passport.
The court then requested verification from the registrar, who confirmed that the passports had been deposited on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026.
Satisfied with the confirmation, the court restored the previous bail conditions under which Abronye DC was initially granted bail.
However, the judge cautioned the NPP communicator that strict adherence to all bail terms remains mandatory, warning that any further breach could lead to revocation of bail and possible re-arrest.
The ruling follows a review of compliance with the conditions attached to his release, with the court noting that the necessary requirements had now been fulfilled.
Abronye DC is currently standing trial on a charge of false publication, brought against him by the state.
He was previously granted bail by the High Court last month after an earlier remand following his arraignment. As part of those conditions, he was required to surrender his passport to the court, a directive that has now been satisfied.
