Residents of Damongo are expected to benefit from improved road connectivity following the commencement of a GH¢24.4 million road project in the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Damongo, Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril, cut the sod to officially begin construction of the five-kilometre road project, which is being implemented under the government’s “Year of Roads” initiative.
The project, being executed by M/S Naschon Company Limited, is expected to be completed within 24 months.
It comprises a 3.5-kilometre bypass and an additional 1.5 kilometres of road works within the municipality.
Mr Jibril, who is also the Minister-designate for the Savannah Region, said the project represented the beginning of a broader programme of road development planned for the area.
He said the government remained committed to expanding road infrastructure across the country as part of efforts to improve mobility, enhance connectivity and support local economic activity.
The MCE said additional road projects were expected to be undertaken in the municipality as the government pursued its commitment to improving the country’s road network.
The Member of Parliament for Damongo and Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, also attended the sod-cutting ceremony.
He assured the people of Damongo of his support and pledged to collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure the project was completed on schedule.
The road project is expected to improve access within Damongo and enhance connectivity for residents and businesses in the municipality.
