The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed the arrest of former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as “Miracles,” over alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving about GH¢55 million.
In a press statement issued on Monday, July 13, 2026, EOCO said the arrest forms part of ongoing investigations into the affairs of the Secretariat following a forensic audit and a petition submitted by the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD.
According to the statement, the investigations cover the period from August 1, 2022, to February 2, 2025, and relate to the suspected misappropriation, misapplication, diversion and theft of public funds amounting to approximately GH¢55 million.
EOCO disclosed that the investigations were initiated last year after an initial forensic audit of the Secretariat uncovered alleged financial irregularities, prompting further investigations.
The anti-graft agency also announced the arrest of Mr Gerald Appiah, a former Accountant of IMCCoD, in connection with the same investigation.
EOCO said Mr Aboagye, Mr Appiah and other persons are currently under investigation for a number of suspected offences, including conspiracy to steal and stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the State, dissipation of public funds, defrauding by false pretences and money laundering.
The Office indicated that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that further updates would be provided as the case progresses.
The arrests come amid heightened public interest in the case, following earlier reports of Mr Aboagye’s detention, which sparked political reactions and calls from some members of the opposition for greater transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
